Casas Ibáñez

Discovering Casas Ibáñez: wine and nature in perfect harmony

Today we move to an enclave well known to all members of Bodegas Vega Tolosa, Casas Ibáñez, our home. We open the doors to all the hidden corners that make up this wonderful earthly paradise in which we have located our facilities from 1998. Join us throughout this post to discover all the benefits that this land has prepared for the enotourism lover.

The origins of Casas Ibáñez

The Municipality of Casas Ibáñez has its origins in a particular point of the Gualí Hole where already in the Bronze Age we have knowledge of the first official settlements. Much later it would become part of the imposing Lordship of Villena being faithful to these even at the time of the reign of the Catholic Monarchs already within what was known as the village of Jorquera.

Casas Ibáñez

It was already in 1833 when the province of Albacete was formed as we know it today where Casas Ibáñez was constituted as its own municipality, becoming the party head of the region. This is how we have arrived at present being one of the places of greater population and administrative relevance of the province located to the south of the country. The Albacete Manchuela.

Main tourist attractions

Next, we are going to show you in a summarized way which are the main tourist attractions in Casas Ibáñez. Take pen and paper because we started:

La Terrera on the Cabriel River

Casas IbáñezCasas Ibáñez is associated with the plain, like many towns in the region and the province of Albacete and has an authentic green lung that extends from "la Ceja" throughout the Cabriel valley.
On a long walk along the river we came across the Terrera, is a natural site on the banks of the Cabriel River in which the City Council has tried to maintain the facilities of the old hydroelectric power plant by conditioning them to carry out environmental activities.

The Bullring

Casas IbáñezThe Plaza de Toros, located at the exit of Casas Ibáñez, towards Valencia, on the N-322, was inaugurated on 28 August 1957 and was built on the first Bullring built in 1857 thanks to private initiative and had an area of 4,442 m2 and a capacity of 3,000 people. A curious fact is that Currently the bullring has a capacity of six thousand people, more than inhabitants has Casas Ibáñez.

The works of new bullring, which lasted a decade, involved a great effort for the municipal economy and for its completion had to involve the neighborhood of the town with financial contributions and voluntary jobs and bonuses.

Cerro de San Jorge

Casas IbáñezThe only mound that stands out from the plain where Casas Ibáñez is located is the well-known Cerro San Jorge, to the southeast of the town, with 707 meters of height, of municipal property and where today the telecommunications antennas are located, the geodesic point and one of the water tanks that the population has.

Serves too for the recess of citizenship, as it is just two kilometres away from the town centre and is a circular route for passers-by; also has a great attraction for cyclists.

Church of San Juan Bautista

Casas IbáñezIt currently presents a appearance different from that of the early 18th century, Since there have been several reforms that it has suffered, especially the one derived from the collapse of its vault in 1846, for which reason it had to be rebuilt for the most part. The main nave has a dome cover of edges, while in the cruiser it presents others of lunettes, which should have been the model of dome that it originally had before its reconstruction.

As for his images and objects of worship highlights a Christ of ivory and ‘wood of palo santo’ of Italian school which is the so-called Christ of the Mysteries.

Hermitage Virgin of the Head

Casas IbáñezIn extramural is the hermitage-sanctuary of the Virgin of the Head, a baroque construction built since 1680, by the aforementioned architect Juan Ruiz de Ris. It is a building of unique nave, with chapels-hornacina between buttresses, semicircular head and vaults of edge, everything, although modest, of good execution.

For the most adventurous and explorers we can not fail to recommend the realization of two country routes as they are the one that a Bocaceja and La Terrera or the one that crosses the border of the Cabriel River with Tabaqueros.
