The story of VEGA TOLOSA

Back to the origin to look further

There are decisions that set the course of a story.
In VEGA TOLOSA, one of them was to look at our land with different eyes.

We are located in the heart of La Manchuela, a region located between the Júcar and Cabriel rivers, where the landscape opens between vineyards, pine forests and ravines that draw an environment of great beauty and natural value. A living territory, with a wealth that has not always been recognized as it deserves.

Here, the vineyard coexists with the Mediterranean mountain, with the fauna that lives in protected areas and with a way of life linked to the countryside, effort and respect for the environment.

And this is where our story begins.

Believing in one's own when it wasn't easy

It all started long before we put a bottle on the market.

It was 1905 when our great-grandfather planted the first vines in this land of character. A plateau at more than 700 meters of altitude, where the intense sun of the day and the contrast of the cool nights help to create grapes with a unique personality.

It was a humble beginning, but with a very clear conviction: work the land, take care of it and trust what he could give.

For decades, that work focused on the cultivation of the vineyard and the sale of wine in bulk. Until 2001 we decided to go one step further: stop selling unnamed wine and start making our own wines.

It was a time when many wineries opted for international varieties. It seemed that the outside had more value, and we were also part of that movement.

We came to plant Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah…
And our first wine was precisely a coupage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

But sometimes, you need someone from outside to make you see the obvious.

When we started marketing that wine, an English importer asked us a question that changed everything:
“But if you are in La Manchuela …, how can you not make Bobal?”

That question made us stop.

It made us look back to our vineyards, to our history, to what had always been there. And then we made a decision that would mark our path: Bet on the Bobal.

We started taking care of her as she deserves.
To lower yields, to better understand their behaviour, to work with technology that would allow us to respect their expression – cold equipment, more controlled fermentations, careful selection of yeasts.

And the result was clear: Bobal not only had potential, it had identity.

Since then, this commitment has also extended to other native varieties such as Tardana or Albilla, which we have recovered to show that our land can offer unique, different and high quality wines.

Today, our wines travel to different countries, bringing with them a way of understanding the wine that is born here, in La Manchuela.

Taking care of the earth so that the future is possible

Believing in a land also means taking care of it.

That is why at VEGA TOLOSA we are committed to organic farming, to viticulture that respects natural rhythms and protects the biodiversity that surrounds us. Our vineyards are located in an environment of high natural value, where each decision seeks to maintain the balance between production and conservation.

Because we understand that making wine is not just making a drink.
It is to generate life in the territory.
It is to contribute to the economic development of Casas Ibáñez and the entire region.
It is to give continuity to a way of life that connects past, present and future.

Today, we continue to move forward with the same idea we started with:
defend ours, take care of it and take it further and further.

If you want to know this history closely, we invite you to visit us and visit our vineyards. Discover here our wine tourism experiences.

And if you prefer to start with the glass, enjoy our wines in the restaurants or visit our online store.

Because there are stories that are better understood when you live … and when you share them.

There are decisions that set the course of a story.
In VEGA TOLOSA, one of them was to look at our land with different eyes.

[133

post-8534","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cultura-vinicola
["GET
